Virginia Dixon, bass

Virginia Dixon is one of two Bass Teacher Trainers for the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the Bass Trainer for the European Suzuki Association. She is actively training bass professors, orchestra bassists, other perfomers, and conservatory students from eighteen countries. Her mission takes her to three continents.
 
She holds two performance degrees from Indiana University and major teachers were Julius Levine, Murray Grodner, and Georg Hortnagel. She has performed throughout the U.S., Europe, South America, and Japan. Some of her most memorable performances have been as a member of the Louisville Orchestra, with Sam Baron and the Bach Aria Group, and performances of the St. John Passion in Munich, Brussels, and Paris. She has served on the Board of Directors of ISB, as Director of the Young Bassist's Program, and in 2005 she received a Special Achievement Award. As a member of  the Suzuki Bass Committee, she is creating materials for the Suzuki Bass Method for which five volumes are already published. She has recorded for Louisville, Albany and Cedille Records, and has performed live on WFMT Radio.
 
She is on the faculties of Elmhurst College and the Suzuki School of Elgin.
